I decorated my canopy bed by wrapping 150 Christmas lights all around the top of the wooden rails.  I made sure that the control to the lights was near the head of the bed.  This set has a control with 8 different settings. 

I also wrapped silk ivy around the lights and found some inexpensive ivy from The Dollar Store, and draped ivy on all four ends.  This has been a lot of fun for us.  I have tried making it interesting by occasionally changing all the light bulbs in color.  Its quite a task but its interesting trying out different colors.  

I have also taken the Christmas poinsettias we bought at Christmas time that have clips on them and clipped them to the bedroom curtains.  I found some grapes that light up that were perfect in going around the outside of the frame of our bed.  I talked my husband into letting me buy enough to go around the bed.  I love it and enjoys it at night.
