Romantic Ideas Involving Religion |
| A DIFFERENT KIND OF BIBLE STUDY Submitted by: Mark Hughes
Very few folks quote the Song of Solomon for a Bible Study, but I
found the poems in there to be very romantic and endearing. The
words found in that book are a series of love letters and amorous
outpourings of a couple seeking to immerse themselves in the love of
the other. It is a beautiful book, and while a metaphor for
God's love of us, it is first and foremost a record of this couple's
love for each other.
Just a few years ago, I had my wife and I sit down after the little
ones were in bed, telling her that we were going to take some time for
Bible Study that evening. I lit several candles, turned down the
lights and we read the Song of Solomon together by candlelight.
I had her read the "beloved" portions and I read the
"lover" portions. It was a wonderful way to spend time
in Bible study and affirming our own love for each other as we read
these wonderful words. I'm thinking of a repeat performance
again soon.
