ROMANCE IN A FLASH

I'm a multimedia programmer specializing in CD-ROM and web development using tools from Macromedia and Adobe. Recently I created a romantic game in Macromedia Flash for my wife and I to play together.

The game will randomly choose my wife or myself as the giver. The game then randomly chooses an action for the giver to perform. Examples of actions include:

"[Giver] whispers 10 reasons why [Receiver] is
loveable in [his/her] ear"

"[Giver] recalls aloud the first time [he/she] met [Receiver]"

"[Giver] massages [Receiver]'s feet for 3 minutes" (my wife especially likes that last one, at least if she is the receiver). 

As time progresses the game will select actions that tend to be increasingly intimate. The words of the action appear at the top of the game's screen in a large red romantic font. Below the space where the action appears, there is a red heart-shaped button. We click the button or hit the space bar on
the keyboard when we are ready to have another action displayed. There is also a timer option. When the timer option is selected, the game will automatically display a new action when three minutes have passed. The most challenging aspect of creating the game was coming up with all of the actions!

My wife didn’t know that I was developing the game, so I wanted the first time we played to be a surprise. After we got the kids in bed I ran a bath for her. While she was bathing I brought a small table into the bedroom and put it next to the bed. Then I moved the computer into the bedroom and set the monitor up on the table (and wished I had a laptop!). By the time my wife was finished with her bath I had the game up and running, candles lit about the room, and some snacks and drinks set up. 

To say the least, she was very surprised when she came out of the bathroom! She loved the game and especially appreciated the time and effort I put into creating it for us. We have played it a number of times since then (though sometimes we just pile up blankets and pillows in the computer room and play it in there) and still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
