| SPECIAL OF THE MONTH Submitted by: Darlene On the first day of the month our Sonic Drive-in Restaurant advertises the special of the month. The first one of us that sees the special of the month and tells the other what it is, wins. It's romantic to us because it is something that only Jeff and I do. Our kids have helped us out occasionally as decoys to keep one spouse busy while the other sneaks out of the house to read the special before the other realizes what day it is. The kids always ask "Who won this month?"--they see the fun we have together and think it's great. One time I went to work and taped to the door was the special. Jeff had called a friend that worked with me and had her write it out and tape it to the door so I'd see it as soon as I had gotten there. Another time, he knew I would be picking up the mail and he had put it in the mailbox with the other mail. Once I called my daughter and told her to tell Jeff it was someone from work. He was surprised to hear me rattle off the special of the month! All I heard on the other end of the line was "I never even thought of it being the first of the month--I guess you won!!" I guess it just gives us a little extra fun once a month to look forward to. |
