I scoured the local rural areas outside my neighborhood in Texas and collected as many wild sunflowers as possible.  I snuck over to my boyfriends house while he was at work and placed bunches of them in glasses all over the house... on every coffee table, end table, the mantle, dining room table, kitchen, inside the refrigerator, up the stairwells, in his bedroom, bathrooms (all around the tub and sinks) and laundry room. You could look in any direction and see flowers.  I burned a CD with Stevie Wonder singing "You are the Sunshine of my Life" and placed it in the player, on repeat, and left it on.  I also wrote, on beautiful paper, a quote from a movie he told me to watch because it reminded him of me, "Chocolat", and left it on the dining room table surrounded by sunflowers.

 

You can imagine his surprise when he returned early in the morning after 24 hours at the fire station and finding his home filled with beauty.  He loved it!
