A REALLY HAND-MADE CARD submitted by: Alyssa McDonald. My sweetheart lives 12 hours away, subsequently our relationship is predominantly defined by emails, phone calls and interstate florist deliveries. This valentines I wanted to embody our communication in a card. I make paper (although it's so chunky you could call it cardboard) - I printed off all the emails he sent me and mushed them up in the blender - to that I added petals of flowers and rose oil that he sent me. I made him a card from the intimate words and textures of our relationship - on the front I arranged some of the dried roses and sprinkled petals in the envelope. When you look closely at the card - you can make out some of the writing from his emails - I wanted him to realise that I cherish the energy we spend sharing our thoughts and feelings, even though we can't be together all the time.
