DECK HIM submitted by: Marcy
My boyfriend & I are both total
romantics (yes I know how lucky
I am!) so we have many great
stories. I think the best so far
was for our 5th anniversary last
year, when I created a special
evening for the two of us:
I have an upstairs apartment
with a large deck next to it on
the other side of my kitchen. On
the deck I took a large phone
company wire spool and covered
with a tablecloth to create an
elegant outdoor table setting. I
then added heart-shaped table
cloth, all the appropriate table
settings and candles all around
the deck area.
For an extra-special touch, I put some of my favorite photos of us and a specially created menu. One one side was the "Story of MK Restaurant" (M & K being our initials) and underneath the heading I had typed up the story of how we met and how we were meant to be and that tonight's menu is in celebration of their sweet love. On the other side, it listed the "Special 5th Anniversary Menu" with each dish named "love related" like "Cupid's Crustaceons" for Fried Shrimp and so on. I had laminated each part and put it in a nice plush fake leather portfolio and on the front wrote an large scripted M and K in silver ink to make it look fancy. Lastly, I played some soft classical music from my computer in the house so it was just audible outside and go to work preparing dinner.
I then invited him over and told
him to enter the house through
the back way, but this time it
was almost dark out so the
candles and soft music created a
perfect atmosphere. I waited
hidden where he would be coming
up the stairs to greet him.
I dressed up with my "K" necklace in celebration of him and placed a dishtowel over my arm which I found at K-Mart and had a little ketchup and mustard bottle over it, with the letters K and M over them which I thought was perfect. When he arrived he was shocked to see me there, I said "Good Evening, Sir and welcome to MK Restaurant. Do you have a reservation?" He played a long and said yes, for two under Kamil Baranowski. To which I replied, "Oh yes, right this way Sir, we have a special table set up for you." I walked him up the way to my deck where he immediately saw the whole thing and loved it. I tried to keep him from breaking my "character" but it was difficult - it was also okay.
I retrieved wine, and each
course salad, entree and desert
(my personal favorite part,
small cheesecakes shaped into
hearts with chocolate over
them). And had the most
wonderful conversation ever. He
looked into my eyes with the
most love and romance then I had
ever seen in the 5 years of our
relationship.
He talked to me so sweetly and - he said that from up on that deck with the evening I created he felt like he was at an Italian Restaurant and the street from there in the moonlight looked like it could be the river. It was definitely a wonderfully romantic night that we both enjoyed every minute of. |
