My husband is from Ohio and I from Michigan. So he asked me if I would make a trip with him (this is when we were only dating). I said sure, I really wanted to see what this place he called home was really like.
He had always told me that he had a special place to go when he needed to think or time to himself. When we arrived, he showed me all there was to see, except this special place. Finally, on the last night we were there, he told me to get dressed. He took me down to the edge of town where the park was. At first it didn’t seem like a “special place”. He asked me to get out of the car and I did.
He took my hand and we walked down the path with only the lights from the car showing us our way. After all it was almost 12:00 am. He walked me up over a hill and through some thick trees. This to me was exciting yet a little scary, not knowing where I was going.
We continued down this hill to a little tiny peninsula that stuck out into the river. With a full moon in place and it making the water glisten, he bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and was completely overwhelmed. I wrapped my arms around him and we shared the biggest kiss.
The perfect moment, until we fell in the river. When we were embraced, we both lost our footing. We laugh about that day and how we “saved” each other.
