I received an email this week from someone telling me that certain
ideas that my subscribers contributed to my website were not romantic.
I’m sure she is not alone in her thoughts.  Today’s media has promoted
a warped idea about what romance is and unfortunately a lot of people
have bought into it.  Some people wrongly equate romance with sex or
seduction.  Others think it has to do with expensive gifts.

In a nutshell, romance is the things you do (whether small or grand)
that makes another person feel special and loved.

So, in a way this lady was right.  What might be very romantic to one
person might not “seem” romantic to her.  Romance is quite an
individual thing.  But sadly, some people don’t know how to be
romantic or how to be romanced because they don’t know what real love
is.

Have an endearing week. — Michael

Down To the Last Dime
by Glee Summers
http://theromantic.com/

My fiance mailed a very special gift to me: a necklace with a dime
suspended from it!

He had taken a dime and with a nail, punctured a hole in it.  He then
attached a ringlet and slipped it onto his silver necklace.

But that isnt even the best part.  Along with it, he sent the most
romantic little poem, declaring his love and telling me he would give
me everything — down to his “last dime.”

I admit, some might think I look pretty silly wearing an ordinary dime
around my neck and I get lots of questions about it, but it reminds me
how much I am loved each time I glance down at it.
