DAD’S CHAIR

My husband was ill for a long time. He was depressed and unable to
leave the house or do anything. He spent his time either in bed or in
his recliner.
While he was sleeping, my four children and I cut different colored
hearts out of construction paper and wrote reasons why we love him or
admire him, such as “You can always make me laugh” or “I think it’s
great that you can fix anything.” Then we taped the hearts all over
the corner by where he sits.
He loved it so much that a YEAR later when all the paper was curled
and faded he was upset that we had taken them down. (He had been back
to work probably 10 months by then.)
