August 12-18 is National Resurrect Week. I created the holiday back
in 1995 as a commercial-free alternative to Valentine’s Day. The
purpose of the holiday is to try to do romantic things for an entire
week without spending more than $5 a day.
If you want to know more about the holiday and need some ideas on
celebrating it check out:http://theromantic.com/resurrect.htm
Have a great upcoming Resurrect Romance week — Michael

It seems like many of you had problems deciding on a winner of the
SONG contest just like I did. I think every entry received at least a
couple of votes. There were many that were very, very close on votes
but SONG SCRAPS by Pam Hying of Madison Wisconsin inched ahead of the rest. Several mentioned that many of the other ideas involved musical
talent but anyone could try to duplicate this creative idea. Audrey
Carroll of Portland Indiana was drawn from all those who voted. I’ll
try to get your prizes out to you this week.
This week’s contest is on RESTAURANTS. Even a dinner at McDonalds can be romantic with the right touches. How have you made going out to a
restaurant a truly romantic experience? (please, no stories on how you
spent oodles of money on the fanciest place in town – there has to be
something unique or creative about your experience).
The winning story will receive a copy of Important Questions for
Couples to Ask by Todd Outcalt.
All entries must be received by Monday.

A HANDsome BOUQUET
by Michael Webb
http://www.TheRomantic.com
I decided that Athena needed a bouquet of flowers for her desk. No
ordinary flora would do.
Being the offbeat person that I am, I made her a construction paper
bouquet. To make the gift even more personal, I made the flowers from
a tracing of my hand. Confused?
I took out six sheets of different colored construction paper. With a
pencil, I traced two images of my hands on each piece of paper. I
then cut out the twelve *hands*.
After laying each construction paper hand flat on the table, I taped a
flexible straw to the palm for a stem. Then I brought the right side
and the left side of the hand together and taped it so it would make a
shape similar to a tulip. I did the same for the other eleven
flowers.
Because the flowers were on flexible straws, it was easy to arrange
the flowers in a vase and make them look like a natural bouquet. The
whole procedure took about 35 minutes (you could do it during your
favorite television program). If you have more time, you can cut out
some green leaves and tape them to the stems.
This bunch of flowers will never wilt — except maybe your one and
only’s heart.
