Next week (August 13-19) is Resurrect Romance Week. It is a holiday I
created back in 1995 to highlight romance six months after Valentine’s
was over. Each year it gets more and more recognition and exposure.
The BBC is doing a piece on it next week as well as numerous
newspapers across the country. I’ll be doing dozens of radio
interviews so perhaps you will hear me in your city.
If you see/hear notice of the event, I’d appreciate you letting me
know where you saw or heard it mentioned.
Have a bodacious week. — Michael

Janel Messenger of Weare, New Hampshire submitted this week’s winning
entry. There were almost 100 ideas submitted that involved using
candles around a bed or bathtub/whirlpool. I didn’t include any of
those since they are rather common. Janel*s idea and several others
are at http://theromantic.com/stories/candles/main.htm
This week’s contest is on TRADITIONAL ANNIVERSARY GIFTS. What was a
creative way you have incorporated the traditional/modern anniversary
categories into a gift (for example the traditional 5th anniversary
gift is wood). For a list of anniversary gifts, go to:
http://theromantic.com/trivia/main.htm
The winning idea will get a copy of Best of Baby Boomer Trivia. I’m
not a boomer but I found the book pretty interesting. Also available
at Amazon.com and other bookstores.
Ideas must be received by Monday, August 14 to qualify for the prize.

THE SILENT LANGUAGE
by Michael Webb
I often wish Athena and I knew sign language. That way I could easily
tell her how beautiful she is from across a crowded room.
Not knowing sign language does not keep me from communicating with her
when we are no longer in ear shot of each other. I’ve been known to
make all sorts of gestures from across the room with my hands, eyes
and lips. I guess you would call that flirting.
I know some people actually come up with certain hand signals to say
‘I love you’ silently. I have heard of those that will do so by
touching their finger to the tip of their nose. Some will raise one
finger, followed by four and then three – signifying the number of
letters in that special phrase. Of course you can point to your eye,
then your heart and then your sweetheart to get the message across.
Once you have mastered the ‘I Love You’ you can move on to more
difficult phrases by tugging on your ear, tapping your chin, rubbing
your temple and other signals. If pitchers and coaches can do it, why
can’t lovers?
