~~~  From the Editor ~~~
We have just returned home from a trip to  Knoxville, Tennessee.
I mentioned a couple of issues ago that we were going  to see Loreena
McKennitt in concert. That is only part of the story.  We  were also
going to Knoxville to see some very good friends. We have  remained
close friends since our college days together.
Fortunately,  they homeschool their children as well so they also have
flexible schedules.  That meant we could school our children together
by seeing cultural and  historic sites in the area during our stay.
Great friends really enhance  great marriages.
Have a blessed week.  —  Michael
THE QUESTION GAME
by Michael  Webb
http://www.TheRomantic.com/
A few weeks back some friends  came over for dinner. Afterwards we
decided to play a game instead of  watching a movie. After all, we
invited them over to spend time with them,  not to stare quietly at
the television for two hours together. We weren’t in  the mood for
cards or a board game so we improvised and played “The  Question
Game.” The very simple object of the game is to get to know  one
another better.
During the first two rounds we each took turns  telling the others
one thing that we liked. Caviar, honest people, hot baths,  ice cream
sundaes, helping others succeed, swimming with dolphins and  yellow
tulips were some of the comments that were vocalized.
On the  third round we each shared with the others one thing we did
not like. We  opened up to not liking people who make fun of others
or who are intolerant  of other cultures or beliefs. One person
didn’t like beans and another found  seafood to be repulsive.
While eating dessert and drinking champagne we  repeated the cycle
until we got tired of playing. The best part was that  everyone
won. We learned more about each other and became closer  friends
because of it. This game is also an excellent non-threatening way  to
discuss things you don’t like that your spouse does. For example  you
can tell the group that you don’t like seeing people talk with food
in  their mouth or use profanity without pointing the finger. Better
yet, it is a  way to drop hints about what kind of gifts you would
like to receive and how  you would spend your ideal romantic day.
Instead of renting that next  movie, play a game where everyone wins!
