We met on an internet dating site and during the “get to know you” stage we played the question game a lot. During that I found out that September is her favorite time of year because she loves the fall. Living in Michigan the fall is really nice because the trees change to all sorts of colors. Two weeks ago I asked her not to make any plans for that Friday night because I had an evening planned for us. We both have been under a lot of stress at work lately and I promised that it would be a relaxing evening.
I went to the craft store and bought a bunch of purple rose petals and crystals. I then went to the dollar store and bought a white sheet and some glue. I am normally home for about 2 hours before she is so every night that week I glued the petals and crystals to a circle cut out of the sheet. When Friday came we went to The Henry Ford Estate. There is a place there where you walk down a hill with steps in it and you are in front of a waterfall surrounded by trees. We often go there to just clear our heads and relax. It is very quiet and very peaceful. She has often said that is her favorite place on earth.
We were walking down the path and the leaves there had changed and fallen on the steps. When we got to the bottom she saw the sheet surrounded by 10 dozen purple roses I crafted with the crystals and silk petals that I had asked a friend to set out before we got there. I then led her to the center of the sheet and told her how much she means to me and then got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. We are going to be married next fall on the one year anniversary of our engagement. She says that it couldn’t have been more perfect.
