When my husband was overseas for 6 weeks, the enjoyable reading of a chapter a week of a chosen book was to be forfeited, until I decided in the 3rd week to choose a book and send him a chapter a week. To make it more personal, I hand-wrote each chapter. He read them all with great thanks and it brought us together, even though we were miles apart.
When he returned, we continued the book and ever since, if we are apart, or cannot make it to read together, we make sure we read the next chapter on our own. It gives us great discussion topics, and we can become a part of each others, and the characters lives in a different way. (The book I wrote out for him was “Howards End”)
