T I P O F T H E W E E K

A Different Dozen

I use this idea each year for Valentine’s Day. My friends love the
idea and the men especially love the cookies. The response that
you will receive will be worth the effort.

You will need:

1. Two long stem roses that have been dried upside down or two
fresh ones.

2. Green Easter grass

3. One white long stem rose box from the florist or craft store

4. Heart shaped cookie cutters, one large/medium and one small

5. Clear plastic wrap

6. Raspberry jam

Find a cookie recipe that you like where you roll out the dough to
make shapes (sugar cookies being an example). A recipe that calls
for ground almonds is usually good.

Cut out 24 cookies with the large/medium cookie cutter. Then cut
out the center of 12 cookies with the small cookie cutter.

Bake and cool.

Spread raspberry jam on top of the 12 whole cookies. Place the
cookies with the center cut out on top of the raspberry jam. Place
grass inside the box. Wrap each individual cookie and place in a
row along the center of the box, slightly tilted. Place one rose
on each side of the cookies. Wrap box with a big red bow and give
to your loved one.

Note: I use the dried roses when I have to mail the box.
