I sure missed sending out this newsletter the last two weeks. It has
become a very regular part of my routine the last 5 years that I feel
like something is missing if I miss an issue.
But as much as I like sharing with all my readers (and making some
advertising revenue to pay the bills) there are more important things
than putting out an issue. I missed two weeks ago because I was
volunteering at a youth summer camp and I missed last week because I
was visiting family in New Orleans, including my step-mom who is near
the end of her fight with cancer.
Now, let’s get back to romance! — Michael

Exploring a nearby creek or swimming hole on a hot, hot day. Better
yet, find a place that offers *tubing* – where you float down the
river in an inner tube, holding hands.

The last contest I ran was on NATIONAL RESURRECT ROMANCE WEEK. Many
of you guessed the correct dates which are August 11-17 of this year.
The purpose behind this holiday I created 7 years ago is to promote
genuine romance from the heart. Beginning this Sunday do one small
romantic gesture (costing less than $5) each day for the entire week.
For some good ideas, see the tips at the bottom of the press release
at http://theromantic.com/resurrect.htm
John Stone at Bethel Church was chosen among all those who submitted
the correct answer. Go pick your prize!
This week’s contest is on IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS. In each newsletter
I include something that is simple, yet somewhat unique or creative
that you can do for your sweetheart. It must be PG rated. Submit
your idea(s) and I’ll choose one of the best to win a trip to prize
vault which is filled with board games, CDs, books, professional dance
lessons and more.
To enter this week’s contest, send your entry via
e-mailto:tipofweek@aol.com
Submissions must be received by Monday to be eligible for the prize.

Fat-Free But Full of Fun
by Michael Webb
http://theromantic.com/
A few years back, my wife received a box of assorted Jelly Bellys.
For those who aren’t familiar with these candies, they are miniature
jelly beans that come in dozens of flavors: mint, orange, pineapple,
coffee, tutti frutti, peach, cotton candy, buttered popcorn and root
beer are just a few.
While sampling my wife’s gift I thought of a fun game to play with the
Jelly Bellys. Either you can buy the assorted pack or go to a candy
or specialty grocery store where they are sold and buy a few of each
flavor.
The basic concept of the romantic game is a blind-folded taste test.
One person is blind-folded while the other feeds him or hervarious
flavors. For each flavor guessed correctly, they win a prize (a kiss,
a 5 minute massage, a one minute back scratch, etc.). To make it a
little easier, you can give the person two chances to guess the
flavor. If they get it on the first try, they get a better prize than
if they guess it on the second.
To make the game even more interesting, you can combine Jelly Bellys
to make unique flavors. Rootbeer and vanilla together creates a
rootbeer float. Coconut and pineapple combine to make a Pina Colada.
Chocolate and cherry ones create a chocolate covered cherry. There
are at least a dozen different combinations that can be made from the
nearly 100 flavored Jelly Bellys. Perhaps you can have a different
scoring system for combination flavors.
You can buy dozens of Jelly Bellys for just a dollar and best of all,
they contain no fat. Don’t worry about any calories. You will work
them off when it is time to redeem your prizes.
