We’re in the midst of Resurrect Romance Week and I’ve been having a
lot of fun doing numerous radio interviews each day. Some subscribers
pointed out to me that a number of e-card sites have cards made
specifically for my holiday.

Have a blessed week. — Michael

ELECTRONIC SCAVENGER HUNT
by Michael Webb

Scavenger hunts are one of the more popular romantic ideas. You send
your sweetheart around the house or town, searching for clues and
perhaps picking up gifts along the way.

A modern version of the scavenger hunt incorporates the computer.
Here are some different ways you can set up a scavenger hunt for your
sweetheart.

Create some webpages. You might want to use a free service like Yahoo
or Geocities. Give your mate the url of the first page. On that page
will be a clue. Perhaps it could be something like “What is the name
of the restaurant where I proposed to you? Use that name to create
the url of the next page you will go to:
http://www.yourpage.com/xxxxxxxx.htm.” If you are web savvy enough,
you can also create multiple choice questions and by clicking on the
right answer, it leads you on to the next page. You can continue this
hunt for several pages if you want and have the last page be a coupon
for a present or simply a page that is a dedication of your love,
including photographs, love poems and other things your have written.

Here’s another idea. Send your sweetheart on a hunt using existing
sites. Have them collect the answers to your questions (similar to
this week’s contest above). Use questions that are meaningful to your
relationship, such as “One of my favorite musicals is Les Miserables.
Which city did it debut?” or “My favorite cuisine is Thai. Name two
Thai restaurants we have never been to within 40 miles of our house.”
The clues will give them “clues” for future romantic dates and gifts.

And yet one more. This idea uses your computer only, not the
Internet. Create files throughout your system, in different
directories for your partner to find. Use fun file names such as
yourthebest and loveyou. Have them search for all the files,
including clues to get to the next one. The final page they open will
tell them what their reward is for successfully completing the hunt.

Happy hunting!
