~~~ From the Editor ~~~
I have recently added over a dozen really great items to my prize
vault. Included are some lottery scratch off cards for lovers —
scratch off and see what you win! A truth or dare game for spouses
and other things I think most of you would love.
How to you win something from the prize vault? Each week
I run a contest *see below*. Usually less than 50 enter so
your chances of winning are pretty good. And the contest is
usually kind of fun. You can check out the prize vault at
and the new stuff is at
the bottom.
Have an adventurous week. — Michael
P.S. My Young Indiana Jones DVDs just came in. Can’t wait to
watch them.
~~~ It’s the Little Things ~~~
Buy a mutual favorite childhood game (I like Don’t Spill the Beans
and Ants in Your Pants). Turn off the TV and play the game and
relive happy, childhood memories.

~~~ Contest ~~~
Thanks to all who entered last weeks contest.
From all the correct entries I randomly chose 3 winners last week:
Craig A. “Spike” Davidson of Phoenix, Arizona
Melanie Quinlan of Hurst, Texas
Holly Paniwozik of Grand Rapids, Michigan
*** This week’s contest: Before my retirement from granting
interviews, I was on over 500 TV and radio shows. One of the hosts
said “you are so fantastic” when I shared some romantic tips with
the audience. Who was it? Hint: It was not Oprah (but I’ve been
on her show too) but someone close to her.
Search http://www.TheRomantic.com/ for the answer.
Email your answer to me at tipofweek@aol.com and put “show” in the
subject line. In the text of the email give me your answer along
with your name and city where you live.
From all the correct answers I will pick one person to win a trip
to the prize vault.
TheRomantic.com’s ever growing PRIZE VAULT is filled with books,
several board games including Time for Two, An Enchanting Evening
and others, CDs, dance lessons and other fun stuff at
A short while back I mentioned how I have made up to 75 an hour
being part of focus groups. The most memorable one is where I was
part of a mock jury and we heard all the facts about a potential
court case and was paid 150 for two hours of work.
Some said the link to the website where you can find out about focus
groups in your city wasnt working so I am putting it here again —
http://theromantic.com/focusgroup.htm
Most of the focus group meetings can take place in the evenings so
those with full time jobs can even participate. If you are a man
or a minority you can make even more.
In recent years a lot of focus groups began taking place online so
you can live in the middle of nowhere and still do them.
HOME ROMANTIC HOME
by Michael Webb
http://www.TheRomantic.com/
If asked to describe what would be a typical romantic occasion,
the majority of people would probably give details of a full moon,
deserted beach, mountain chalet or other beautiful place where two
people could spend some time alone. It just shows how important
the atmosphere or ‘setting’ is to romance.
Likewise, many people have the opinion that they have to go away
to those sort of places in order to have a romantic evening or
weekend. That’s simply not practical most of the time. Since we
spend more time at home than anywhere else, it would reason that we
might want to make more of an effort in making our own homes more
“romance friendly.”
Does your home have a fireplace? How often do you use it?
Most fireplaces aren’t extremely efficient but they sure do look
great. People use fireplaces in their homes now for atmosphere – and
not just in the winter. You never know when you’ll need a romantic
getaway so always have some firewood around and pine cones on hand
to throw in so the fire has a lot of romantic “crackle.”
Is there a good supply of candles handy? Turn off the lights, light
the candles and presto! you have a romantic setting. Aladdin’s
Genie couldn’t have transformed the room any quicker. Also, you
might want to consider putting a dimmer on the lights in the dining
room. For less than 10 bucks you can transform blinding lights into a
soft romantic glow.
Nothing creates a mood quite like music can. You can be in a taxi
in the middle of New York City and shut your eyes, put on some
soothing music and instantly it can take your blood pressure down
a few notches. So what is “romantic” music? How about a CD or
tape of thunder and rain? There are other nature sounds on tape
like waves crashing, birds singing, jungle noises and crickets
chirping. They’re a nice alternative to the traditional classical
music we’re accustomed to. Put one of those on and instantly the
mood in the room will change.
Invest a little money into making your own home a romantic
getaway. It sure beats the expense of going away every weekend just
to put a little romance back into your life.
