Strike One, Strike Two…

I while back I came across a large bag of match books Athena and
I had been collecting over the years. Every time we would go to
a restaurant or on vacation, we’d pick up match books if we saw them.

Since we aren’t really doing anything with all these match books
and they were just cluttering up our space I decided it was time
to toss them. Athena, being the pyromaniac that she is, cringed
at the thought of wasting all those packets of fire.

We came up with a great compromise. We began a little nightly
ritual. Each night as we finish up in the kitchen we close our
eyes and each grab a match book. We take turns talking about the
date or situation where we acquired it. Then I throw mine in the
trash and Athena lights hers on fire in the kitchen sink and then
douses the packet with water before throwing them away.
