~~~ From the Editor ~~~
Believe it or not, some people think that those who celebrate
Christmas are *actually* worshiping the tree or some pagan gods simply
because many of the adapted elements of Christmas may have once been
used in that way. Its like saying we should avoid babies and virgins
because they have been used in sacrifices to heathen gods.
I’m sharing this because this is what I was taught from birth and for
many years had a wrong view of Christmas and missed out on a lot of
joy that the season can bring.
Now I realize that for Christians, Christmas can tell a very powerful
story using the many symbolic elements used during the season. Of
course, many celebrate Christmas solely secularly without worshiping
any god whatsoever. But if you would like to share with your children
or others the story of Christmas using the elements of the season,
here are some ideas:
STOCKING WISH LIST
by Tracy
http://theromantic.com/
This will be the first Christmas together for my husband and me. He
didn’t grow up with the ‘decked out’ holiday like I did but has agreed
to making Christmas stockings because it’s a favorite tradition of
mine.
Because it’s his first ever Christmas stocking, and our first
Christmas I want it to be extra special. So I’m filling his stocking
with my “wish list” of everything I want in our marriage and life
together.
I’m putting a little note to explain what each item represents: CHOPSTICKS for the meals I enjoy cooking for him; MINI BABY DOLLS for the children we want to have; a hot wheels CAR (that one’s obvious), a tiny model AIR PLANE and GLOBE because we want to see the world together; a roll of WALL PAPER for the home we will have; and a 50th ANNIVERSARY cake decoration for a long, happy marriage.
