One anniversary I rented a cabin in the woods for us. Our two daughters and I went out to the cabin that day and took all of our clothing and necessities. We also took candles, wine and wine glasses, groceries for a romantic breakfast and a special banner that the girls made for us. The girls we’re 6 and 8 at the time.
We decorated the cabin and got everything set up, complete with romantic music and all. The girls hung their special banner that said “Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad” over the bed. That night when my husband came home from work I told him I had a special evening planned for us and I took him out to eat at a restaurant in the town that the cabin was in.
We enjoyed dinner together and I gave him a small gift. He thought the night was over. I then started to drive to the cabin and he was surprised that we weren’t going home. When we arrived at the cabin I went in first and lit the candles and turned on the music. He then came in and saw all of our work and was stunned. He couldn’t believe I had pulled all of this off without him ever knowing. We had a LOVELY evening.
We slept in the next morning and then fixed a marvelous breakfast together. It was definitely one of the greatest anniversaries we ever had. Quaint and romantic. Our girls are 18 and 21 now and they still help Mom plan special nights for Dad. My prayer is that I’ve taught them to treat their husbands special.
