Years ago my man worked midnight shift and I worked daylight shift so we were never in bed at “breakfast time” at the same time. I often wished I could surprise him with breakfast in bed but it just wasn’t to be, until one day I came up with this idea.
On my way to work, I stopped in the parking lot of his job and placed an invitation to “breakfast in bed” in his car. The invitation included exact directions to where my car would be parked in the parking garage of my place of employment.
In preparation for this breakfast I had gone to the local Pier 1 and purchased a fancy bed tray table and then went to the bakery where I ordered several different types of breakfast items. When he arrived at my car, he found the passenger side seat back lying partially back with one of my silky nightgowns lying seductively across it. On the seat below, was the bed tray loaded with fresh muffins, fruit tarts, iced orange juice, fancy napkins in a napkin ring and even a fresh long stemmed red rose in a vase.
On the tray, I also placed my cell phone with a note to call my office phone number. While we talked on the phone, he was able to sit in the driver’s seat of my car and enjoy his “breakfast in bed” while I sat at my desk and enjoyed the same items. It isn’t exactly the traditional way breakfast is served, but we both enjoyed it tremendously.
