My boyfriend is Jewish, and I am not.  This is our first holiday season together, and we wanted to share our traditions with each other.

I bought him a red and white stocking, and he bought me a blue and white one.  We have a 3 foot tinsel tree sitting next to the menorah, and for Hanukkah, we decided to mix our traditions.

For each of the 8 days, we would put something special in the other person’s stocking.  After lighting the candles and saying the prayer (he even taught me how to say it!), we would get to reach into our opposite-colored stockings and pull out our surprise.  It was our first shared holiday tradition.
