My boyfriend and I live about 1500 miles apart right now. He goes to school in Florida and I live in Michigan, so traditional dates are few and far between. Instead, we have phone dates.
We talk often on the phone, but busy schedules, and sometimes limited phone availability, cut our calls short. When we feel like we need to spend a little more time talking, we schedule a “date”.
We decide on a place for dinner (usually a fast food restaurant that we both like), a day and a time. Before we get on the phone, we get our food. Then we get on the phone and just talk. The phone bill can get pretty high, but it’s cheaper than if we were to go to dinner and a movie.
There isn’t much conversation while we eat, and it’s not the most romantic thing to do, but it’s nice to know that he’s there sharing dinner with me. We have had some of the best conversations on our “dates”, and we don’t have the distraction of other people and things around us. While we are apart I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday or Saturday night.
