FLAMES FOR THE HEART

One Winter when my wife and I were only married a couple of years and money was not there to afford a real fireplace, I built one.

I bought the rippled paper that has bricks printed on it. I taped boxes together to form the shape of a fire place and wrapped them in the brick paper. I also used gray paper on the top for a mantle, when we placed picture frames and such. Using construction paper I made logs and flames for the fire.

As a finishing touch I got a window candle that has the flicker bulb in it to place behind the paper fire. With the flicker from the single light and a little imagination we had a warm romantic fire to snuggle by.
