The first date with my husband was eventful and a handful. Two weeks prior we had met and exchanged phone numbers. Since he lived out of state, we had to wait a couple of weeks in order for us to have time together. During the course of time, I had told him that I had a son and that if was he was interested in me – he was interested in my son as we were a package deal. So, our first date included my son.
We decided to see “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in a town over an hour away. I had just bought a brand new Chevy Tracker with a soft top. Since the weather wasn’t calling for rain, my sister (who also went on the date) convinced me to leave the top at home. I met my husband at the movie theatre and away we went to watch the movie. Upon existing the theatre it was pouring rain. He decided to take my sister and son in his car and I was to drive my car to my office (I worked nearby until the rain stopped).
It was raining – I was freezing – I rear-ended a car. Talk about embarrassing. My brand new car – on my first date with a guy that is hot – and nothing but nothing has gone right. Having worked thru that issue – we finally made it to my office. Everyone dried off – warmed up and he offered his sweatshirt for me to drive home since I was soaked.
For the record, I have never given back that sweatshirt. On our tenth anniversary – he bought me the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a constant reminder that while things might not always work the way you want them – everything has a way of working out in the end.
