THE MAGIC INGREDIENT

Josh and I had been dating for about a month when I decided to bake him a mexican lasagna that his mother used to make for him all the time while he was growing up in Missouri.

He had moved away from her to Indiana when he was 17 (about 8 years ago) and misses her tremendously so I thought this would make her seem a little closer.  After hearing that I didn’t know how to make a mexican lasagna (this was my first) I started in on the dish from scratch while Josh and our two boys headed outside to play some football.

As I finally pulled the dish from the oven and placed it on the table they all stood in amazement.  The words “I Love You” across the center with flowers created in each corner with green and red bell peppers and jalapeño peppers caught them by surprise.  Once I talked them into cutting it, they all agreed that the love was the best ingredient ever (and it was better than moms).
