Kathy and I had been dating for a short time, but our conversations ran as though we’d always known each other. She was coming over for dinner for the first time, and I was planning on asking for our first kiss as a “Goodnight.” I wasn’t sure it wouldn’t be too soon for her. While I was pondering, this poem/song came out of my head.
Well, here we are. We’re only just beginning.
Yet I feel I’ve known you for some time.
I know that we’ve agreed to take it slowly,
but I’ve begun to dream you could be mine.
Oh, and I want to hold you.
Oh but I don’t want to push you away.
Oh but I want to kiss you every night
and oh I want to love you every day
So tell me please, am I too far ahead now?
Tell me, are your dreams the same as mine?
Have I made too much of what we have now,
or might we be together for all time?
Because I want to hold you.
Oh but I don’t want to push you away.
Oh but I want to kiss you every night,
and oh I want to love you every day.
I showed her the poem after dinner.
I got my kiss!
