New Year's

UP, UP AND AWAY

picnic up up new yearsThe first New Year’s after my son was born we really did not have the money to spend going out to a party or restaurant & getting a sitter for New Years. I was really bummed because we ALWAYS do something special on New Years.

So to make up for it my husband decided to treat me to dinner by candle light. When he got to think about it, a candle light diner sounded old and redundant so he added a twist.

He made me a simple dinner got my son ready for bed and tucked him in for the night. He then came downstairs and told me to put on a jacket because we are going out. I looked at him like he was nuts! He told me not to argue so I got my coat on.

He took me out the back door and told me to wait were I was. OK?! He then grabbed a ladder from the garage and put it against the building. He then gestured for me to go up, when I opened my mouth to argue he just planted a kiss on me. So up I went!

When I got to the roof (we live in 2 floor/5 townhome military housing building) there was a blanket, a bottle of bubbly w/two glasses, crescents from the bakery, some cinnamon butter and a small radio. He told me that a candle light dinner wouldn’t do our love justice (Our anniversary is also on New Years day) so he figured he’d give me the stars instead! Isn’t that sweet?! We ended up ringing in the New Year with a Star Lite dessert and listening to the count down from the Tower Chief’s broadcast from the airfield!
