BIG SISTER

When I was pregnant with my first child, my husband was with me when I found out but when I told my mom, I went to her house and sat next to her on the couch.  We were all involved in conversation (my husband, my stepfather, my mother and I).  I picked up her hand and put it on my tummy.  She knew exactly what it meant.  It was a very special moment. That would work on a husband as well!

When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, my husband wasn’t with me.  He normally got home from work during my daughter’s afternoon nap.  My doctor’s office happened to be located in the Family Maternity Center of our hospital so I stopped off at the gift shop before going home.  I purchased a pink, “I’m the Big Sister” t-shirt and put it on my daughter before she went down for her nap.  When my husband got home from work I sent him to go wake her from her nap.  So, in a way, it was our daughter who told him!
