PUZZLING CLUE
submitted by: Kristy Holzhausen

Last year, as with every year, I extended the Valentine’s holiday. 2004 was the “Four Weeks of Valentines.” My husband received something every week, or several times a week (love letter, poems, little gifts, etc.). But the biggest thing took place during the last week of the celebration. I purchased a small puzzle. It was the “Dear God Kids” .. there was a boy and a girl having a picnic on the beach and the words said, “Dear God, This is the Life!”
I put the puzzle together, turned it over and wrote a message on the back that included telling him where to find his last Valentine’s surprise. The location was on the last few puzzle pieces. I took the puzzle apart and separated the pieces. For the week before Valentine’s Day, he would receive an envelope each day with a few puzzle pieces.
On Valentine’s day I got a call at work. He had finally put the last of the pieces together, turned the puzzle over and found out that we were to meet for lunch at the local chocolate shop. He asked if he needed to stop and get sandwiches, and I said no.
When he got there, I was already set up in their meeting room. I had preordered a Chocolate Fondue for Two, and it was set up in the room. I had brought chicken salad sandwiches, and extra food items to dip into the chocolate. (The chocolate shop was fine with me doing that – they are great!) My husband was very surprised and we thoroughly enjoyed our special Valentine’s Lunch.
