I was given a rabbit by an aunt. It’s a stuffed one, big and cuddly like a teddy. At first, not really knowing what to do with it, I just left it on my bed. My husband, jokingly? seemed jealous, so I gave it hugs and propped it up on cushions so it was in a prominent position on the bed.
When next I returned to the room the rabbit was gone. I searched and found it under the bed so replaced it on top.
Next evening the rabbit was gone again. This time the search took longer and when I finally found it I put it IN his side of the bed, under the covers with one of his books open on it’s knees. Well that was the beginning of the “rabbit hunt”. Since then it will disappear for hours, days, even weeks sometimes till it turns up somewhere completely unexpected. Always makes me laugh and a huge surge of affection comes for my sweet husband.
Neither of us has ever commented on the rabbit – when I find it I just hide it again. Sometimes I don’t even know he has found it and it will appear on a hanger in my cupboard under a blouse – or somewhere unexpected. It is a game we have fun at together and enjoy sharing. Has been going on for about 10 months now and never fails to bring a smile and thoughts of each other. Sometimes the rabbit will be holding a heart or small chocolate or a movie ticket.
