My girlfriend and I have not been together for so long, but we do a lot of the cute things that couples do. One of those things is to leave cute messages on answering machines and voice mails when the other can’t be reached.
Well, I recently got a cell phone about 2 months ago. And at some point when I was unavailable, my girlfriend left me a message. She said “Dave, this message is just to let you know that I miss you and I adore you, and I hope that you have a good night.”
Not only did I never delete that message (to this day it is saved in my voice mail), but I decided to return the favor. It is not uncommon for me to receive calls for her on my phone since she does not have a cell phone, and so from time to time I have voice mail for her. One day I told her that she had a couple of messages on my phone for her that she should listen to.
What I actually did was call my cell phone from a hard line and left a voice mail on my own phone for her. I made sure that the message she left was played directly before the message I left and told her to listen to the “Saved Messages.”
When she discovered that I had saved her original message for so long and that the following message told her how much she meant to me, it was quite a romantic moment. All thanks to technology.
