I think that some of the nicest things that you can do for your significant other are the things that cost the least amount of money. So many people get caught up in the materialism of Valentine’s Day – jewelry and expensive gifts – that it’s easy to forget about the really important thing, how you feel about the other person.
When I attended college, like a lot of other students, I didn’t have a lot of extra cash. When Valentine’s Day came I wanted to do something special for the man I was dating, but couldn’t spend a lot of money on it.
I bought a big piece of red bristol board, and cut it out in the shape of a HUGE heart. I decorated it with hearts and glitter, wrote “Happy Valentine’s Day” in big letters, and wrote on it a poem I had written for him.
He loved his “giant Valentine” so much he put it up on the wall of his computer room so he could look at it while doing his school work.
