My husband proposed under a huge tree on the shores of Lake Superior. Since we wanted the wedding gifts to be simple, but meaningful, I decided to try my talents at painting. I was able to take a photograph of our tree and painted a replica for him. He absolutely loved it, and had actually thought I bought it somewhere! The strange part about our gifts was that he bought me a little bonzai tree and planted it in a clay pot that he painted. He had written our names on the pot and also wrote our wedding date. We had a common theme to our gifts and to this day, the tree sits on a stand under the painted tree and it’s a constant reminder to us of where our wedding bliss all began!
