Just last month, I moved to Pennsylvania from Virginia to be closer to my fiance, Jonathan. We had been driving back and forth for months and I decided that it was time to give up my job of 12 years and my recently purchased home to do just that.
Needless to say, the entire moving process was quite stressful. After I had moved all my belongings into this apartment, I needed to return to Virginia for about a week to work my last week, clean the house and take care of last minute unfinished business.
Ananda (the dog) and I arrived on Friday afternoon, while Jonathan was at work. We were met with small gifts — wrapped and bowed — all around the apartment. There were boxes of treats on the floor for Ana and I found roses in a vase, a box of dark chocolates, a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator, a coloring book, a bottle of wine and a box of 96 crayons. (He knows that coloring is a good way for me to de-stress). On my bed was a sleep mask (because I work nights). Among the gifts, there were also cards expressing his love and appreciation for all I had done and all I had sacrificed to be a part of his life. It was overwhelming for me to realize that someone could love me so much to spend that much time doing all those things just for me.
Although I have given up so much for which I had worked, I do not regret my decision. Our love has grown stronger and more solid with each day that we spend together.
